Description
This is a wet-into-wet watercolor painting of Wizzlewump, an angry wizard in a story I wrote. I often start paintings loosely and then tighten up the details at the end--this painting I left most of it loose, only adding details in the eyes, nose, and mouth. (Thank you to Frank Frogge for modeling this great expression for me. to paint.)

This is my favorite, Frank. I'm always partial to great watercolors, and I can't say I've ever seen another with such a great expressive quality besides. Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous mastery of the medium! I, too, am a huge Brian Froud fan(my granpa gave me the Faerie book when I was young), and I can see the influence...

wow did you use prismacolors to define the eyes area? They are so controled that is stunning work again!
Frank Robert Dixon replied:
Yes, Danielle, I did use prismacolor pencils to create the details on the eyes. The painting started of course with lots of wet-into-wet watercolors.

Thank you for your comments. Yes, this guy does look like he has lost his mind. And, Carl, I would be glad to meet you sometime-- but we live pretty far apart. I am in California, and I believe you are in Florida. I looked at some of your photos. Well done. And iit looks like you have had fun traveling the world over the years.
